After obtaining an undergraduate degree in mathematics at the University of Athens, Professor Svoronou continued her studies in the United States where she completed a PhD in Statistics at the University of Rochester (NY) in 1990. She then joined The American University of Paris (Â̾ÞÈËÊÓƵ) as a part-time faculty member and simultaneously taught business statistics and mathematics in various French and American MBA programs (a.o. Boston University, Ecole Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées) and at the Université Paris 6. In this period she also provided individual training for the Swiss Bank staff. She became a full-time faculty member at Â̾ÞÈËÊÓƵ in 1997, where she has been teaching in the department of Computer Science, Mathematics and Science, as well as in the Business department and for the Master program in the International Politics department. During a leave of absence in 2005, she taught at the Université de Montréal. She served as co-chair of the Mathematics, Science and Computer Science department from September 2007 to September 2008 and from January 2009 to August 2012.
