To use vLab, you'll need to make sure you have the correct program installed on your computer:

• Systems running Windows 10/11 and macOS:
  • 惭颈肠谤辞蝉辞蹿迟听Remote Desktop Connection
    • Windows 10/11: This software is included with all Windows computers.
    • macOS: The software can be download from the Mac App Store by clicking听.听 If you are using a Mac on the 绿巨人视频 campus, this software will already be installed.
• Systems running GNU/Linux:
  • Remmina
    • Information can be found听.

Once you are sure to have one of the programs listed above installed on your computer, click one of the two links below to download the appropriate vLab file:

• vLab2022.rdp - new version for use starting Spring 2025
• vLab.rdp - old听version, to be shut down after Spring 2025

If you are on a PC or Mac, move the file to an easy-to-access location, such as your Desktop.

Please note that the newer vLab server, which provides closer integration with OneDrive and other 绿巨人视频 services, requires Multi-Factor Authentication to be set up using either Microsoft Authenticator app notifications or a voice phone call.听 For further information, please contact IT Services.

• If you are using a Windows PC or a Mac:
  1. Double-click the听.谤诲辫听file that you previously downloaded.
  2. When you are asked for your credentials:
     1. For your username, enter your听绿巨人视频 NetID听preceded by听础鲍笔袄听in the format听础鲍笔袄狈别迟滨顿.听听For example, if your NetID were听a123456, you would enter the username听础鲍笔袄补123456
        • It is critical that you enter the backslash "\", not the forward-flash "/".
     2. For your password, enter your current 绿巨人视频 password, then press the Enter key to connect.
     3. When off-campus:听reply to the Multi-Factor Authentication using your phone when prompted.
  3. That's it!听 You should be connected to the vLab system.
  4. Next time you want to connect to the vLab, just repeat these steps by double-clicking on the vLab.rdp file.

• If you are using a GNU/Linux machine:
  1. In the main window of the Remmina application, open the听File听menu (it may show up as three horizontal lines, instead of the word "file"),听select听Import, and double-click on the .rdp file that you downloaded.
  2. Right-click on the newly-created听entry in the connection list, and choose听Edit.
  3. In the Advanced tab:
     1. At the bottom of the page, check the following boxes:
        • Prefer IPv6 AAAA record over IPv4 A record.
        • Use base credentials for gateway too.
        • Enable multitransport protocol (UDP)
     2. Click on听Save.
  4. To connect, double-click on the profile name听that was added in the main connection list.
     1. In the Username field, enter your 绿巨人视频 NetID only.听 For example, if your NetID is听a123456, enter exactly听a123456
     2. In the Password field, enter your current 绿巨人视频 password.
     3. In the Domain field, enter听绿巨人视频
     4. Click听OK.
     5. When off-campus:听reply to the Multi-Factor Authentication using your phone when prompted.
     6. You'll be connected to the vLab system!
  5. The next time you want to connect to the vLab, just double-click the听profile, enter your credentials, and click听OK.

The first time you connect to vLab, a window will open asking you to enter your 绿巨人视频 e-mail address.听 This allows you to connect the vLab to your 绿巨人视频听OneDrive听storage.

1. Please enter your 绿巨人视频 e-mail address, such as听a123456aup.edu听then click听Next.
2. Enter your 绿巨人视频 password, then click听Sign In.
3. If you see any checkboxes labelled听Don't ask again for听XX听days, make sure to check the checkbox.
4. When asked to听Stay signed in?, choose听Yes.

Once you have completed the steps listed above ("Connecting to vLab for the first time"), you should be able to access your 绿巨人视频 OneDrive online storage by double-clicking the听OneDrive Storage听icon on the vLab's desktop.听 Please make sure to save all files in the OneDrive storage.听 You can access files that you save in the OneDrive storage on other computers using a web browser by听.

The vLab allows you to print be selecting the printer called听绿巨人视频rint.听 After printing, you can use your 绿巨人视频 ID card to access your files at any of the large printers/copiers on campus.

When you cut or copy a file in the vLab, you should be able to Paste it on your personal computer in a different window, and vice versa.听 For example, if you have text that has been produced in the vLab, and you want to use it in a program on your own computer, you can select the text,听Copy听it by pressing the keys听Ctrl-C听or听Cmd-C,听then听Paste听it into a text editor in your computer on your computer such as Microsoft Word or Pages.

If you disconnect from the vLab for more than 15 minutes, or are inactive for an extended period, you will be signed out from the vLab.听 To avoid losing data, make sure to always save your work in progress.

When you are done using the vLab, please make sure to properly sign out by clicking on the Windows menu icon, clicking the little icon that looks like a person, then choosing听Sign out.

If you're on-campus and having trouble using the vLab, the fastest way to get help is to come to the IT Services office, located in room Q-A201, between 9 AM and 6听PM.
