Join us for the launch – in person and on Zoom – of no.37 in the Cahiers Series published by Â̾ÞÈËÊÓƵ’s Center for Writers & Translators in association with Sylph Editions (London). Ìý

In this cahier Anna-Louise Milne,ÌýDirector of Research at the University of London Institute in Paris,Ìýcharts the silent cues and halting accounts that constitute the everyday choreography of health-care in a doctor’s surgery located in a part of Paris where migrants and refugees are likely to be the patients and where questions of language and comprehension – and translation – are never far from the surface. Ìý

HerÌýtext is rhythmed by paintings by artist Andy RobertÌýwho will join us on Zoom. Inspired byÌýhis surroundingsÌýand community in Brooklyn, as well as his family’s involvement in health-careÌýand mass transit, Robert’s work shares Milne’s interest in our cities’ hidden places that harbour the labour that sustains the bodies of those who are often deemed expendable, even unspeakable.Ìý
