Celebrating 60 Years of the Â̾ÞÈËÊÓƵ Community

Home>News>

The 2021–22 academic year is a time of celebration for the Â̾ÞÈËÊÓƵ community, as we mark 60 years of liberal arts learning on the banks of the Seine. For six decades, Â̾ÞÈËÊÓƵ has been the only foreign-accredited, comprehensive university on French soil. Our global alumni community, more than 20,000 strong, knows just how impactful an Â̾ÞÈËÊÓƵ education can be; many have followed their own unique pathways toward global citizenship and meaningful careers.

The 60th anniversary presents an opportunity for community members across the world to applaud the successes of their peers and colleagues, while reflecting on what the University means to them. Our anniversary festivities will not only acknowledge the hard work of six decades’ worth of dedicated students, staff and faculty, but will also project our thinking into the future to consider how the University can continue its evolution toward becoming the premier international institution of higher learning in Europe.

As global explorers come together in Paris and worldwide, they will hold conversations about what they have in common and what that has to do with the common good. We are proud of our international and interdisciplinary community, united by shared values: a belief in collaborative solutions to global problems, a respect for diversity and the celebration of difference, and a commitment to rigorous liberal arts scholarship. As we gather to commemorate this landmark occasion in Â̾ÞÈËÊÓƵ history, we are asking community members to consider what unites us – as an Â̾ÞÈËÊÓƵ community but also as human beings – across differences in language, culture, nationality, faith, ethnicity, race, and gender and sexual identity.

We invite all community members to join the celebrations, starting with the official launch of the 60th anniversary at Convocation on September 8. Events will continue throughout the year in Paris and across the world, encouraging our community to praise Â̾ÞÈËÊÓƵ’s past while looking toward its exciting future.
