On Thursday, September 18, 2020, following six months of remote learning and virtual events, Â̾ÞÈËÊÓƵ officially began a new academic year. To mark the occasion, the University organized a digital Convocation, attended online by students and their families as well as the wider Â̾ÞÈËÊÓƵ community. Speakers included Â̾ÞÈËÊÓƵ President Celeste M. Schenck, who commented that the event was a moving occasion; Â̾ÞÈËÊÓƵ's Vice President and Director of Enrollment Management, Tim Rogers, who welcomed new students to campus; Provost William Fisher, who spoke about the University's hybrid teaching approach this Fall semester; Â̾ÞÈËÊÓƵ professor Michelle Kuo, who encouraged incoming freshmen to be the "soul of transformational change"; and a senior student, Jasmine Cowen, who encouraged her peers to take care of each other throughout this difficult time.
