This trip explores how human migration and cultural diversity take place within social, cultural, and political contexts through the example of the city of Amsterdam. We do this (1) by exploring stories of the city and asking questions about belonging, community, and culture as part of Amsterdam鈥檚 museum鈥檚 鈥淐ollecting the City鈥 as well as the walking tour; (2) by witnessing a history of persecution and storytelling in the Anne Frank house; (3) by exploring the city鈥檚 food and its connection to colonialism; (4) by reflecting on the social, cultural, and legal frameworks that sustain the demo/geographical features of the Red Light District; and (5) by learning about colonial symbolism and Netherland鈥檚 colonial past at the Wereld Museum.
