MADE IN FRANCE? RECONNAÎTRE L’IMPORTANCE DES SAVOIR-FAIRE ET TECHNIQUES D’AILLEURS QUI FONT LA MODE PARISIENNE.

Le16juin 2022, le séminaire Cultures et Histoires de Mode explore la notion du «Made In France» à travers la question des techniques et savoir-faire. De quoi est faite la mode que l’on appelle «la mode parisienne»? Est-elle uniquement le résultat de savoir-faire français? L’œuvre d’ouvriers et d’ouvrières françaises?

A travers le cas de la broderie indienne utilisée par de nombreuses marques de luxe parisiennes et à travers celui de la délocalisation de la production française au Portugal, le séminaire entend montrer que le «Made In France» tire en fait sa richesse de ses racines internationales, puisant dans les savoir-faire étrangers et les structures industrielles européennes. La discussion s’appuiera ensuite sur un exemple précis – celui de la marque Armine Ohanyan – pour tenter de comprendre les enjeux entourant la création d’une marque «Made In France» aujourd’hui.

On June16, 2022, the seminar Fashion Cultures and Histories explores the notion of "Made In France" through the question of techniques and know-how. What is the fashion called "Parisian fashion" made of? Is it only the result of French know-how? The work of French workers?

Through the case of Indian embroidery used by many Parisian luxury brands and through the case of the relocation of French production to Portugal, the seminar intends to show that "Made In France" in fact draws its richness from its international roots, drawing on foreign know-how and European industrial structures. The discussion will then be based on a specific example – that of the Armine Ohanyan brand – to try to understand the issues underlying the creation of a “Made In France” brand today.
