CM2004 Comparative Communications History
CM3052 Rhetoric And Persuasion
Visit Andalusia and explore the history of communications through the lens of cultural transformation. Look at how developments in media technologies changed material and immaterial culture. Architecture and the visual and verbal arts are just two of the ways in which this impact is highly visible. Visits to the region’s major Muslim and Christian monuments emphasize the complex relationship between space, place and persuasion. Take the opportunity to visit sites relative to the Jewish presence in Andalusia. Reflect on how the region’s past is used to service the tourist industry and how the Islamic presence in Andalusia is seen today, notably given the large number of immigrants from the Maghreb and a growing interest at official level in Al-Andalus, as the area was known during the eight centuries of Islamic presence in Spain.
