ES/HI2010 Early Islamic History
Onetime capital of three empires (Roman, Byzantine and Ottoman),Istanbul is one of Europe’s three biggest cities. Now economic capital of the Turkish Republic, it is a global city linked in to the Balkans, the Middle East,Russia and Central Asia. This trip allows students to understand something of the complex dynamics of a city whose media products (films, TV and music) are enjoyed far beyond Turkey. As well as discovering the main sights of Istanbul, take the opportunities to meet communications and branding professionals and Â̾ÞÈËÊÓƵ alumni. Gain a sense of Constantinople, the city which the early caliphate was unable to take.
