As part of the Civic Life and the Cinema in the Arab World talks and the Arab Film Series at Â̾ÞÈËÊÓƵ, the civic media lab is pleased to host distinguished filmmmakers Kaouther Ben Hania (Tunisia) and Mohamed Siam (Egypt).

Mohamed Siam is currently a fellow at the civic media lab at Â̾ÞÈËÊÓƵ. He is the director of the award-winning documentary film Amal, soon to go on general release in France. 

Born in 1977, Kaouther Ben Hania has directed three major feature films: Le Challat de Tunis, Zeineb n'aime pas la neige and Ala kaff ifrit / La Belle et la meute (English title: Beauty and the Dogs). Ben Hania has won numerous awards for her work. Beauty ... was selected for the category 'best foreign language film' at the 91st Academy Awards. Her work offers a highly critical take on gender relations in Tunisian society.
