As a member of the �̾��Ƶ community, you can host a personal website used for academic purpose (Portfolio, project site...).

You can upload your website files (HTML, CSS, PHP) to our server with a SFTP client following these steps:

Download and install a SFTP client. We recommend using FileZilla available on Windows, MacOS and Linux.
Connect to our Web Server with the following parameters:
- Protocol: SFTP
- Server Name: ac-sftp.aup.edu
- Port: 222
- Username: <YOUR NETID>
- Password: <YOUR NETID PASSWORD>

Go to the folder on the server named with your NetID
Create a public_html folder
Copy your website files from your local drive (Left pane on FileZilla) to the public_html directory on the remote site (Right pane on Filezilla)
Your website is now accessible at https://ac.aup.edu/YOUR_NETID

How much space can my website use?

Your website can take up to 200 MB.

Can IT Services help me build my website?

IT Services do not offer professional services to create or design websites. If you can't create your website on your own, we can however guide you to online services to help you build a website there.

How long will my site be online?

Your website will be online until your NetID is active. When your NetID is no longer active, ITS reserves the right to delete your website without any notice. You can also request the deletion of your website if your NetID is inactive by contacting us.

Can I have access to a database to connect to my website?

If your website needs to connect to a database, please contact us and we will set up a MariaDB database for you.

I uploaded my website files and but the site is not up. What can be wrong?

This can be due to several reasons. Please check the followings:

Your files are uploaded in a folder named public_html. Check the proper spelling
You need to upload an index file at the root of your website (ie. directly in the public_html folder). Accepted index files are index.html and index.php
Check that you try to access your website with the proper URL (https://ac.aup.edu/YOUR_NETID, for example https://ac.aup.edu/a123456 for a student or https://ac.aup.edu/jsmith for a staff named John Smith)

If, after checking this, your site remains unreachable, please contact us to help you identify the problem.

Once uploaded, you can access your personal website at https://ac.aup.edu/YOUR_NETID
