Awarding of Advanced Standing Credit

Leave of Absence

Students wishing to take a temporary leave of absence from The American University of Paris for any given reason (family or financial emergency, personal health, etc.) are required to adhere to �̾��Ƶ’s Leave of Absence procedure. Students are encouraged to discuss possible academic, personal and financial implications with their academic advisor, the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and their financial aid counselor.

University Withdrawal

Students wishing to withdraw from all registered courses in any given semester are required to adhere to �̾��Ƶ’s University Withdrawal procedure. During this process, the student works with the Office of Student Development to identify the reasons for withdrawal, as well as possible academic, personal and financial implications. The Office of Student Development also assists with communication with relevant University Offices.

Tuition Refunds

Academic Integrity

The continuous evaluation of student learning is an integral part of the educational process at The American University of Paris as it is in all American universities. Students must demonstrate their knowledge and comprehension through a wide range of academic exercises, which may include written assignments, research, in-class essays, graphical and computer modeling, examinations or oral presentations. For faculty to perform such assessment, students must maintain integrity and ethical behavior in their academic work. The Code of Academic Integrity is the foundation of teaching and learning at �̾��Ƶ. It is an indispensable attribute of serious scholarship, and a hallmark of the University’s mission and scholarly reputation. As members of the �̾��Ƶ community, students are responsible for upholding the tenets of this code, and for being aware of academic policies and procedures. Ignorance of any part of the Code of Academic Integrity and/or �̾��Ƶ policies concerning academic misconduct does not excuse violations.

Note on Artificial Intelligence. Currently, the American University has no general policy on the use of AI (including generative AI tools such as ChatGPT, Sudowrite, Claude, etc) by students in their work. However, many ways of using these tools are clearly in breach of the existing �̾��Ƶ Academic integrity pledge, signed by students, which states that ‘all academic work submitted at �̾��Ƶ must be the product of the student’s own reflection, study and research’, and prohibits ‘the use of any ideas, words, or data … without properly attributing their source(s)’. Students should refer to the course syllabus for guidelines as to what uses of AI are permitted, and what uses are forbidden, for each particular course.

Penalties for Late Payments

Course Waiver
